Fenerbahce have stepped up their interest in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, according to CNNTurk.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool transfer guru Damien Comolli, who is now the Director of Football at the Turkish side, has already been in touch with the Ibrox outfit with the aim to complete a deal.
The Colombian international has been prolific for Rangers this season hitting 29 goals in all competitions and has recently put pen-to-paper on a contract with the Gers until 2023.
That has not stopped interest from clubs across Europe with Bundesliga pair Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt also monitoring his progress at Ibrox.
Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson revealed last month that they expect to get a similar fee to one that Celtic received for Moussa Dembele. The Frenchman left for Lyon last summer in a £19.7million deal.
Fenerbahce have struggled this season in the Super Lig and are in real danger of relegation having won just seven of their 28 games.
A new striker is high on the list of transfer priorities this summer and Morelos has been identified as a target along with Metz’s Habib Diallo, Copenhagen forward Robert Skov and DC United frontman Luciano Acosta.
Rangers star Morelos has been recalled to the Colombia national side for their matches against Japan and South Korea this week.
The Gers have not won in their last four matches and are now 10 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
The two sides meet for the third Old Firm derby of the season after the international break on March 31.
