Although many, including former manager Mark Warburton, had hoped the highly rated youngster would stay at Ibrox, it seems a move to London is a too good an opportunity to turn down.
Gilmour reportedly had a number different suitors, including some of Europe’s major forces, chasing him for his ability and potential.
The likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as well as Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United were all said to be in the hunt for the player’s signature.
A move can’t be completed until the summer, once Gilmour celebrates his 16th birthday, as per Premier League rules.
His performances whilst with the Gers’ academy have led him to training with the first team in recent weeks.
The Scottish Premiership side were hopeful they could convince the Scotland youth international to stay at Ibrox, stating it would have been better for the player’s development and giving him an opportunity at first team football sooner than later.
