Scottish Premiership side Rangers have denied they have any interest in signing Benfica winger Salvatore Agra according to the Daily Record.

He is a youth international for Portugal with caps at Under-21 and Under-23 level. He played in all four matches at the Olympics in Rio last summer.

Reports in Europe surfaced on Friday that the Ibrox club were pondering a move for the Portuguese player as work continues to be undertaken on strengthening their squad during the close season – but those reports have been rubbished.

The 25-year-old only signed for Benfica on Wednesday but it was suggested in the Portugal media that the winger would be allowed to leave on loan for next season, with Vitoria Setubal also possibly interested, but it seems Glasgow will not be his destination.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has been vocal in the need to overhaul his squad for the new season and has already recruited Bruno Alves and Ryan Jack this week.

Further reinforcements are expected at Ibrox ahead of a potentially busy 2017/18 season for the Scottish club, but Agra does not appear likely to be one of them.
