Glasgow Rangers midfielder Matt Crooks has completed his move to Northampton Town.

The 23-year-old had rarely featured for the Gers, having making only three appearances for the Ibrox outfit before being loaned out to Scunthorpe United for the second half of the season.

Crooks was not thought to be a part of Pedro Caixinha’s future plans, allowing the midfielder to join the Cobblers on an undisclosed deal.

The former Accrington Stanley player had only arrived north of the border last summer, having agreed a pre-contract with the Glaswegians in January before his contract had expired.

However the move to Scotland had not seemed to work for the youngster, as he was blighted with injuries during the first half of the season, impacting his chances to prove himself.

Whilst at Scunthorpe, he managed to show some of the form that brought him to Ibrox by scoring three goals in 12 games, leading the Irons to a League One play-off semi-final.

The club were interested in bringing Crooks back to Glanford Park on a permanent deal, however Northampton have won the race for his signature.

Rangers fans were understanding in the decision to let the youngster leave, wishing him luck on social media.
