Despite securing a third placed position on their return to the Scottish Premiership, Glasgow Rangers have had a rollercoaster of a ride in the top tier.

The Gers season became even more disappointing on Wednesday night when they lost 2-1 to 10-men Aberdeen in their final home game of the season.

To add further salt to the wound, it was the first time in 26 years the Dons had managed to record a win against Rangers at Ibrox.

Graeme Shinnie opened the scoring in the ninth minute, before Ryan Christie, a Glasgow Celtic loanee, doubled their lead just after half-time.

Pedro Caixinha’s men pulled one back just past the hour mark, with a strike from Martyn Waghorn, however it proved not to be enough to get anything from the game, despite a red card for Dons’ Jayden Stockley in the final minutes.

Aberdeen finished their Scottish Premiership campaign above Rangers, something the Ibrox faithful were not happy with, including the end to their 43 game unbeaten streak against their rivals.

Caixinha has the opportunity to rebuild his squad and is actively looking for potential replacements, after inheriting the side from Mark Warburton in March, when the Englishman was dismissed in controversial circumstances.

The Rangers fans took to Twitter after the game to voice their displeasure and did not hold back with their thoughts about their club.
