Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers are reportedly in the race to sign Croatian forward Mirko Maric, according to a report published by The Daily Record.

The 23-year-old has been impressive this season and has gone on to score 18 goals as well as supply several assists. Known for his physicality, Maric has the potential to shine outside of his homeland. He is likely to end up leaving his homeland this summer.

With Kyle Lafferty possibly set to leave the Ibrox Stadium this summer, Rangers could need to bring in a replacement. Maric would be a good choice.

Rangers are however set to face a possible challenge in the race to sign the player as Turkish club Fenerbahce are also believed to be interested in him.

The Turkish giants and a woeful season and just narrowly avoided relegation from the top-flight. they are set to undergo major changes this summer as they look to challenge for a place in the Champions League next season.

If Fenerbahce do make their interest clear, it could present a major stumbling block to Rangers.

The Gers will likely not be able to match the salary and package that is offered by Turkish club. Super Lig clubs have a reputation for being able to sign star players during the latter stages of their careers due to the lucrative financial packages which they are able to offer.

Even if Rangers miss out on this player, the fans must not despair. Gerrard should be able to bring in a new star players this summer.
