West Ham United came from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw with bogey team Brighton and Hove Albion at the London Stadium on Wednesday evening, and after the match the attention of their supporters was on one man.
The Hammers went into the contest in pretty good nick and will have been expected to pick up all three points, even allowing for a poor recent record against the Seagulls, and a number of injuries in their squad.
Despite the mounting injury list, West Ham have picked up plenty of wins in recent times, and supporters will have made it to the London Stadium believing their positive run was going to continue.
Things did not go to plan for the Hammers however, and after a low key first half, they soon found themselves two goals down early on after the break.
Those strikes came out of the blue, but it looked like Brighton were going to leave the London Stadium with a win for a second successive year, however the West Ham players had other ideas as they stormed back.
The comeback was led by talisman Marko Arnautovic, who bagged a brace within two minutes of each other to level the scoring, leaving Hammers fans to believe their side could go on and win the match.
That was not to be, but most West Ham followers would have taken a draw after Shane Duffy had put the Seagulls 2-0 up, and thanks to their star attacker they were able to achieve that.
This was not the first time the Austrian forward has got the Hammers out of trouble. Despite missing some of it through injury, Arnautovic is having a fine season for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
Many West Ham fans took to social media after the contest to thank their star, and acknowledge how their love and unrelenting support for him.
Here are some of their messages:

Mediocre performance from @WestHamUtd tonight. Thanks to Arnautovic for getting us back in the game. The squad have looked so tired since playing Southampton. Fresh legs required for the cup again against Birmingham on Saturday.

Two strange coincidences
-Carroll comes off, concede from two corners (in first half Carroll was standing in front of Fabianski)
-Perez gave Arnautovic more room by playing a more #10 role, he scores twice.
Not saying either played well or that. Just…observing out loud.

Arnautovic plays better with space upfront, I think when Lanzini’s back he walks into that number 10 roll just behind Arnautovic

I’m sorry but this is not up for debate:
Arnautovic> Any player outside top 6

Mark Noble, Marko Arnautovic & Michail Antonio were the only three with the hunger, passion and desire to actually perform tonight. Quality
