Renowned pundits Jamie Redknapp and Danny Mills have been waxing lyrical over Tottenham Hotspur after the North London side’s 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
A hat-trick from Harry Kane and a Gareth McAuley own goal saw Mauricio Pochettino’s side as comfortable winners, which made it six consecutive Premier League wins for Spurs.
Redknapp has stated that he believes that the current Tottenham crop are better than last season and that the rest of the Premier League will be sitting up and taking note of the performance.
“This result will have sent shockwaves through the league today,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m sure Man Utd and Liverpool will have been watching it thinking, ‘Wow, Tottenham are on the march. They’re flying.’
“They are a really powerful side and they are looking better [than last season], Wanyama has added to that. He’s a massive presence in that team.
“You’ve got options perhaps you didn’t have last season. The only worry is if they were to lose [Dele] Alli or [Harry] Kane, because they haven’t got someone to step in and fill the void of those goals.
“But Tottenham are in a great position, they have got players signed up on long contracts. They are playing better than last season.”
Mills has equally as complementary, picking out Harry Kane for specific praise and stating that Pochettino’s team looked to have no weaknesses.
“All the damage was done in the first half when Tottenham could’ve had five,” Mills told BBC Sport.
“Harry Kane was exceptional and could’ve had two hat-tricks but he was magnificent in front of goal.
“It’s been a great week for him and a fantastic week for Tottenham. They look very solid, there are no weakness anywhere.”
Tottenham fans will feel that their side could have won the Premier League title last season and that Pochettino’s side will be in the running for the crown again this term.
A trip to face fellow challengers Manchester City next weekend will be a test of their credentials, but Spurs will go into the game full of confidence following another comprehensive and impressive win.
