Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas has predicted that Tottenham Hotspur will finish above Manchester United in the Premier League this season and that the Red Devils will miss out on a top-four place.

The Old Trafford side brought Jose Mourinho to the club over the summer and acquired a number of high-profile players, including completing a world-record transfer for Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils started the Premier League campaign strongly but defeat in the Manchester derby set the side back and there have been doubts and under-par performances since.

Tottenham on the other hand are the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and defeated the highly fancied Manchester City 2-0 in their last game.

Mauricio Pochettino has a young and able group of players at his disposal, who have started to take on his all-action style of play.

Nicholas stated at the start of the season that Spurs would not qualify for the Champions League this season but after seven games the Scot has performed a u-turn.

“I’ve changed my mind on Spurs, who do look like a top-four side,” he told Sky Sports.

“Reassessing the situation now, I would probably go Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs in fourth.

“Mauricio Pochettino’s side have crashed the idea Man City were marching to the title. Every system is vulnerable and Tottenham showed you can still play on the front foot against Guardiola’s team.

“After that, I am dropping Man United to fifth having originally put them third. Jose Mourinho is stuck because he has spent a fortune on big-money buys, and the big-money buys, especially Paul Pogba, are still trying to adapt.”
