Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has predicted that Everton will win Monday night’s Premier League derby clash with rivals Liverpool 2-1.

The fierce Merseyside enemies go head-to-head for the first time this season at Goodison Park, with both teams coming off the back of morale-boosting victories.

Everton put on a strong performance to come from behind and beat Arsenal on Tuesday night and the home faithful will be hoping their charges can repeat the act agains the Reds.

While his colleagues Paul Merson, Charlie Nicholas and Phil Thompson all either predicted a draw or an away win, Le Tissier has talked up Ronald Koeman’s men and their chance of victory on Monday.

“The win against Arsenal will give them a massive boost and I think the home advantage might just tip it in Everton’s favour,” he said.

“They’ll of had an extra day’s rest, which makes a difference when it comes to a high-tempo derby clash, especially as the intensity of their midweek game.

“Liverpool have proved they simply can’t handle physical threats and if Everton play the game correctly and get some crosses in then Lukaku should thrive.”

Everton are without Phil Jagielka for the game but other than that the Goodison Park outfit are expected to be almost at full strength.

Koeman’s men have been inconsistent of late and the Dutch manager will look at the derby clash as the perfect opportunity to get back on track.
