Match Preview

Man United are enjoying their best run of form since Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in the dugout.

The Red Devils have strung together an impressive five-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League – the first of its kind in the Amorim era.

However, they’re heading into Monday’s fixture on the back of consecutive 2-2 draws. United were fortunate to come away with a point against Spurs.

Bryan Mbeumo fired Amorim’s side into the lead just after the half-hour mark, but late goals from Mathys Tel and Richarlison turned the game on its head.

With their unbeaten streak hanging by a thread, United showed grit and resilience to salvage a draw as Matthijs de Ligt powered home a Bruno Fernandes corner.

United will need to up the ante in their first Monday night fixture of the year if they want to maintain their momentum.

Everton have blown hot and cold this season, but they tend to go up a gear when squaring off against a top team.

Goals from Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane on either side of half-time made sure David Moyes’ side went into the international break with a win in the bag.

They’ll be hoping to win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time this season when they visit Old Trafford on Monday.

Head to Head

Aside from winning 33 of their last 54 Premier League outings on Monday night, United will also be looking to extend their fantastic record against Everton.

The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last six league meetings with the Toffees.

While they were held to a 2-2 draw in their most recent meeting at Goodison Park, United had won the previous five in a row and kept a clean sheet in four consecutive games.

In fact, United have lost only one of their last 12 games against Everton, a 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park in April 2022.

Old Trafford has also been an impenetrable fortress for the Toffees for over a decade. You’d have to go back to December 2013 for the last time United lost to Everton at Old Trafford.

Since then, United are unbeaten in 11 home games against the Toffees (W7, D4), winning the last three in a row and keeping a clean sheet in each fixture.

Meanwhile, Everton will need to recapture their attacking spark to boost their chances of getting a positive result on Monday.

The Toffees have only managed three goals from their last four games, and two came against Fulham.

All eyes will be on summer signing Thierno Barry, who is still waiting for his first Everton goal, and the former Villarreal striker is confident he can break his duck sooner rather than later.

Team News

United will be without Benjamin Sesko, who pulled up in the 2-2 draw against Spurs.

In massive news, Lisandro Martinez is back in contention, although Amorim will prefer to ease him back into action to prevent another relapse.

Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo could also be fit to face Everton on Monday.

Meanwhile, Jarrad Branthwaite is still a long-term absentee for Everton, while Nathan Patterson could return in time to face United.

Other than those two, Moyes should have a fully fit squad to choose from.
