Glasgow Rangers lost their second Europa League group match in Switzerland on Thursday evening, when they went down 2-1 to Young Boys, and after the defeat their fans were quick to turn on one of their players on social media.

The Gers went into the match in good shape in the competition after opening up with a fine victory over Feyenoord in their first game in the section, but saw a lot of their hard work undone in Bern.

Steven Gerrard was confident his Rangers side could win prior to kick off, and to be fair his team made a great start out in Switzerland, and led at the break after Alfredo Morelos continued his strong start to the season to fire them into the lead.

Just as the Gers were beginning to think about gaining complete control of the group with two wins from two, things turned on their head quite dramatically.

Young Boys equalised five minutes after the break, and then as the match went into injury time, the Swiss outfit broke the Rangers hearts with a dramatic late winner.

With Feyenoord winning the other match in the section, the Gers went from controlling the pathway of the group, to all four sides in it being on three points after two matches.

Rangers fans were keen to express their disappointment with the performance on social media after the contest, with one player in particular coming in for plenty of criticism.

That man was the Gers captain James Tavernier, so often the provider of good going forward, but who had a bit of a stinker of a display out in Switzerland, which certainly did not go unnoticed among the Ibrox faithful.

They came down quite hard on the Rangers skipper, with many suggesting he is not good enough to be in their side anymore.
