Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that star defender Toby Alderweireld is the latest Spurs player in talks with the Premier League club over a new contract.
The Belgium international has been a critical member of the North London side in the last 18 months and is on the verge of a recover to the first team after overcoming a knee injury.

Pochettino’s side have been quick to tie down some of their prize assets, with the likes of Harry Kane, Jan Vertonghen, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker all penning new deals in the last six months.
A report in the press this week stated that Alderweireld has a release clause in his contract, but the Argentine boss has confirmed that negotiations are underway with the former Ajax stopper over an improved deal.
“We will communicate as soon as possible [with the media] – it’s not good to talk in public,” Pochettino is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
Meanwhile, the Spurs boss has also confirmed that attacker Erik Lamela has returned to native Argentina to deal with a family matter.
The former Roma attacking midfielder has not featured for the Premier League side for some time and will not be available for Wednesday night’s clash with CSKA Moscow at Wembley.
“Maybe, it’s important to tell our supporters that Lamela has a problem with a family member in Argentina and he travelled to Argentina last night,” Pochettino was again quoted as saying by The Guardian.
“We want to send him our support. He has a problem with his brother. We hope it’s not too serious but it’s an issue and he needed to go to Argentina now.”
