Everton announced on Thursday that they have agreed a £22.5 million deal with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for Ademola Lookman to join them, and afterwards their fans reacted to the news on social media.
The England under-21 international controversially joined the German side on loan a couple of seasons ago, when he departed the Toffees at the time when Sam Allardyce was in charge at Goodison Park.
Having impressed during his time in Leipzig, the Bundesliga side were looking to do a permanent deal for the Everton man last summer, but boss Marco Silva had plans to utilise him in his setup.
The winger would go on to feature for the Toffees 24 times in all competitions last term, but for all his talent, he never really had the impact either he or his manager would have liked, and has now departed the club.
Lookman scored five times in 11 outings for Leipzig in his loan spell there, but could only find the back of the net twice for Everton in the previous campaign, and with Silva loaded with talent in the wider areas of the park, it became an easy decision to cash in on the the former Charlton Athletic man.
The 21-year-old joins the recent exodus of English players to have gone to ply their trade in the Bundesliga, headed by Jadon Sancho, as he looks to revive his career, which had clearly gone flat on Merseyside.
While Everton fans are known to be supportive of their younger talents, there were not too many who were disappointed by the departure.
The Toffees support base realise they have got good money for a player, who while talented, has not impacted the team as much as he might have done, and they can use that cash to get a better option for the upcoming campaign.

Lookman has had plenty of opportunities to establish himself in the team, but failed to take them. He's a player whose reputation has somehow become more enhanced the less he played. I've no problem with Everton taking the profit and upgrading at the same time #EFC

For whatever reason, Lookman and Everton just didn't mix. We will probably see him in the PL again, but I think the move came too early for him #efc

Lookman looks genuinely made up in those pictures. Actually beaming.
Whatever reason it didn't work out for him at #EFC, wish him luck in Germany and worst case is he makes us a hefty lump sum if they sell him big.
Ultimately you need players who want to play for your club

Real shame it never worked out for Lookman at Everton. But it became apparent for whatever reason that Silva didn't rate him enough to start regularly. He needs to be doing that at this stage of his career so reckon this is the best move for everyone. #efc

I think selling Lookman is a good thing, his attitude didn’t seem good enough, he will do well in the bundesliga as most young English youngsters are doing, I’ll never forget the moment he put us 4-0 up against city, unreal atmosphere that day, all the best Ademola. #efc

Lookman hasn't been fancied by a load a manager's, never wowed me in any game and is injury prone already. He's the next Theo Walcott.
