Leeds United youngster Illan Meslier has said that he is learning from his teammate Kiko Casilla, as quoted in The Yorkshire Evening Post.
Meslier joined Leeds on loan from FC Lorient in France in the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old is a very talented and promising young goalkeeper, but France Under-20 international has yet to make debut for the Whites’ first team.
Casilla has been on the books of Leeds since January 2019 when he moved to Elland Road after leaving Spanish and European giants Real Madrid.
The 33-year-old Spaniard has established himself as the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at the West Yorkshire outfit.
The Yorkshire Evening Post quotes Meslier as saying about Casilla: “I’m learning a lot with Kiko, 33, who has been to Real [Madrid], three Champions Leagues, he’s an experienced keeper.
“Mentally, he is superior. He knows what to do on a lot of situations and I really take everything he gives me.”
One for the future
Meslier is only 19 years of age, and it is clear that the Frenchman is far from the finished article.
However, it is clear that the Frenchman has a lot of potential, and learning from Casilla and the Leeds coaching staff will only help him get better and improve his game.
