Player says he is trying to adapt for his ‘very good’ Aston Villa teammate

Aston Villa striker Mbwana Samatta has spoken highly of his teammate Jack Grealish to the club’s official website.

The 27-year-old Villans striker has said that the attacking midfielder is very good with the ball.

The Tanzania international has also stated that he is trying to adapt and have a good connection with Grealish on the pitch.

Samatta told Villa’s official website about Grealish: “Jack is very good with the ball, he is brilliant.

“Sometimes he will look for the one-two and other times he wants you to give him space so that he can beat a defender, so I try to adapt and have a good connection.”

Stats

Samatta joined Villa from Belgian club Genk in the January transfer window.

According to WhoScored, the striker has scored one goal in two Premier League appearances for Dean Smith’s side.

So far this season, Grealish, who can also operate as a winger, has scored seven goals and provided six assists in 24 league games for the Villans, according to WhoScored.

Relegation worries

Villa are in danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season and have to put together a run of positive results.

The Villans are 17th in the Premier League table at the moment with 25 points from 26 matches, just a point above the relegation zone.

For Villa to preserve their Premier League status, it is essential that the Birmingham-based club start to hit the back of the net with more regularity.

Grealish has been sensational this season for a side struggling for results – if Samatta can start to take the chances that the attacking midfielder provides, Villa’s fortunes could start to look up.
