According to The Sun, Newcastle United are interested in signing Joe Worrall from Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window.

Worrall is out of contract at Championship club Forest at the end of the season and will become a free agent next summer.

It has been reported that Newcastle manager Steve Bruce wants to secure the services of the 22-year-old central defender on the cheap in January.

From Scottish Premiership to Premier League

Worrall had a loan spell at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership last season, but manager Steven Gerrard decided against signing the defender on a permanent contract in the summer transfer window.

The former England Under-21 international has been playing well for the Reds this season and has established himself as an important player for Forest.
