Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has told The Herald that he was right to join the Ibrox club in the January transfer window, amid speculation that Celtic, Arsenal and Southampton wanted him.
The 23-year-old midfielder joined Rangers in the summer transfer window after leaving Charlton Athletic at the end of last season.
The Nigeria international moved to the Gers on a free transfer and reportedly had a number of other clubs interested in securing his services.
According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic wanted to sign the youngster in the summer of 2019.
The report also claimed that Premier League clubs Arsenal and Southampton wanted him.
Aribo has said that he is pleased to have made the switch to Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Aribo told The Herald: “It was the right move for me, I am happy that I made this move and I want to keep improving and progressing under the gaffer and playing for this wonderful club.
“I came here to play in Europe and to win the title so I am happy to be pushing. I just want to keep pushing.”
According to WhoScored, Aribo has scored one goal in 10 Scottish Premiership games and has played 29 minutes in the Europa League for Rangers so far this season.
Rangers are level on points with bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table and are also in a very good position to progress to the knockout round of the Europa League.
