Crystal Palace are hoping to convince Premier League rivals Liverpool to sell them Mamadou Sakho before the January transfer window closes on Tuesday night, Sky Sports claim.
The London club find themselves in a relegation dogfight and have already splurged on Jeffrey Schlupp and Patrick van Aanholt this month.
However, Palace’s efforts to strengthen Sam Allardyce’s squad are thought to be ready to continue up until the end of the window on Tuesday night.
Sakho has been frozen out at Liverpool due to perceived indiscipline, with Jurgen Klopp banishing the France international to the fringes of the Reds group.
The former Paris Saint-Germain defender has not featured for the Anfield outfit this season and as such an exit from the Merseyside club would surely be in the interest of all parties involved.
Sakho has proven himself as a player that is comfortable at Premier League and international level, and could be a shrewd signing for Palace if they can complete a deal before the window closes.
The Selhurst Park outfit have dealt with Liverpool in the recent past, signing Christian Benteke from the Anfield outfit in the summer.
