Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes that Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player that would get into Tottenham Hotspur’s starting XI.

The Gunners are currently in fourth place, three points off their arch rivals, who are in third and a further 12 behind leaders Chelsea.

The Chilean winger is top scorer for Arsene Wenger’s side so far this season with 17, having netted 15 times in the Premier League and twice in the Champions League in 31 appearances this campaign.

The two-time Copa America winner moved from Barcelona to Arsenal in 2014 and has been a crucial part of their team since joining.

“I don’t know where they would be [without Alexis Sanchez],” Merson explained to Sky Sports.

“He’s their one player. I was talking to someone the other day and I said that if you put Tottenham’s best 11 that they can get on the football pitch and put Arsenal best 11 next to it, Sanchez is the only player that gets in [to Spurs’ team].

“If you go through the team, I just don’t see who else gets in – that can’t be right.”

Merson’s claims mean that the likes of Mesut Ozil, Hector Bellerin and Laurent Koscielny would not make Tottenham’s side, in his opinion.

Spurs have thrived under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino and put in a Premier League title challenge last season under the Argentine.

With Tottenham currently ahead of a stuttering Arsenal in the standings, the White Hart Lane faithful will hope their side can finish above their rivals this term and end a longstanding hoodoo.
