Leeds United saw their hopes of returning to the Premier League dashed on Wednesday evening, and after losing to Derby County their fans took to social media to come down hard on a villain of the piece.
It all looked rosy for the Whites heading into the second leg of the Championship play-off semi-final, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men enjoying a 1-0 lead from the opening half of the tie at Pride Park on Saturday evening.
If Leeds fans were confident heading into the Elland Road clash, they would have been bubbling with excitement barely 15 minutes into the game, when Stuart Dallas doubled their advantage.
That forced visiting boss Frank Lampard into a change, bringing on the dangerous Jack Marriott and he stunned the Whites within seconds of entering the pitch.
A monumental mix up between Leeds keeper Kiko Casilla and defender Liam Cooper saw the pair crash into each other, allowing the former Luton Town forward to slot into an empty net, and bring the Rams right back into the tie.
It got even worse for the Whites after the break, as Mason Mount immediately levelled the tie on aggregate, before Harry Wilson amazingly put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot.
Leeds looked to have regained control on an amazing night of football when Stuart Dallas bagged his second, but there was still time for more drama. Gaetano Berardi was dismissed for two bookings and soon after Marriott pounced again to send Derby to Wembley, and the Yorkshire fans home disappointed.
The tie completely turned on that moment of craziness from Casilla. He didn’t even need to come for the ball let alone get involved with Cooper, and from there on in the Whites’ defence looked all at sea.
Leeds fans knew who to blame for the loss on social media after the final whistle, with the Spanish stopper getting absolutely no love at all from supporters after the decisive moment in not just the semi-final, but their entire season.

I was all for a change in goal but imagine BPF had made the mistakes Casilla had. Go in at HT 2-0 up and we go through no problem #lufc

Casilla is like one of those people at work who talks over your carefully prepared presentation and then screws up the deal. I sincerely hope Bielsa chucks you off the team. #LUFC

After what felt like a 10 mile walk to the office from Elland Road I have calmed a little. This 10 hour night shift is still going to be horrendous though.

To the game, I have no complaints at all with the result in the end. I think Derby were the better side for half an hour before we scored, but you can’t escape Casilla’s howler was the turning point. That game should not be lost at 2-0 when you’ve wrestled control back. #LUFC

Hindsight is 20/20 but maybe #LUFC should have stuck with BPF instead of Casilla?

Saw that coming tonight. We huffed and we puffed but Casilla is overrated and Bamford is soft. The end. #lufc

Just watched the game back….Can't understand how solid Casilla/Cooper and Beradi were at Pride Park yet tonight they looked like theyve never played together #lufc

It is absolutely mind boggling how much that mistake/1st goal cost us. The absolute shock & anger at how we conceded followed by silence and fear in the stands and on the pitch. The players heads went down after that and Casilla tried the same shenanigans a few mins later! #lufc
