Celtic suffered one of the worst nights in their history on Tuesday, when they were dumped out of the Champions League by Romanian side CFR Cluj, and their fans wished for better for one of their players on social media after the match.

The Bhoys went into the second leg of the tie in a good position after a 1-1 draw in the first game between the two sides, but despite that, they did not have enough to progress through to the final stage of qualifying for the elite European competition.

The evening turned into a tough one in the first half when Cluj wiped out their away goal advantage by taking the lead themselves, forcing Celtic to have to come from behind if they were going to progress.

That is exactly what the Bhoys did too, as second half strikes from James Forrest and Odsoone Edouard put the Glasgow giants in front, although they knew a goal from the Romanians would have turned everything full circle again.

Their fears were realised on 74 minutes, when Cluj levelled the second leg through a penalty, and although Ryan Christie restored the lead for Celtic shortly after, Neil Lennon’s men could not hold on as their opponents scored a third, and then rounded off the misery for the Celtic Park outfit deep into injury time to seal a 4-3 win on the night, and a 5-4 success on aggregate.

Understandably, the Bhoys fans were in disbelief after the contest, and although their disappointment was paramount, they were full of praise for one of the most impressive players on the evening.

That was Eduoard, who scored and set another one up, but could not stop Celtic from exiting the competition much earlier than they would have liked. Despite that, their supporters were full of praise for their striker.
