Scottish Cup holders Celtic made it an amazing 24 successive domestic cup wins in a row on Sunday afternoon when they thrashed St Johnstone 5-0 at Celtic Park, and after the match the attention was on the star man from the contest.

The Bhoys went into the tie looking to take a step closer to defending their title, and potentially setting up another treble with them holding a six point lead in the Scottish Premiership, and with the Betfred Cup already safely tucked away in the locker.

Although Celtic have the first leg of their Europa League last 32 tie with Valencia coming up later in the week, there was no taking it easy and limping through to the next stage of the Scottish Cup.

The Bhoys were two up inside the first 10 minutes at Celtic Park, and there was a strong feeling that the clash was won at that point. Scott Sinclair opened the scoring and then a rasping strike from captain Scott Brown doubled the advantage for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Celtic were made to wait until after the break before they could finally put the match to bed, with James Forrest putting them 3-0 up and giving them the potential to cruise through to the end.

Sinclair then added the gloss to the victory, when he bagged another couple of goals to give him a hat-trick and ensure the Bhoys powered their way into the quarter final.

Celtic fans haven’t always been completely behind the former Swansea City and Manchester City star, but his continually impressive performances in 2019 are starting to win them round, and many of them were quick to praise the attacker on social media after the final whistle.

Sinclair could be a key player for the Bhoys between now and the end of the season, and based on their Twitter posts, supporters are beginning to accept that fact.
