Leeds United galloped five points clear at the top of the Championship table on Friday evening, when they saw off Derby County 2-0 at Elland Road, and after the contest their fans were raving about a young star.
The Whites took full advantage of their opportunity to pile on the pressure on their promotion rivals, ahead of their matches on Saturday, and they will watch on with interest to see how those clubs respond.
Leeds’ match with Derby was a high profile encounter in the lead up to the match, but there was a certain tetchiness about it after it was revealed that Marcelo Bielsa sent a spy to watch the Rams train earlier in the week.
That did not make too much difference to the outcome in Yorkshire though, as the Whites played free-flowing football with a freedom and a swagger in keeping with a side who look to be racing clear in the Championship.
In contrast to that, it was evident to see that Frank Lampard’s team were shackled and playing with pressure on their shoulders and Leeds were quick to take full advantage.
Kemar Roofe gave the Whites the lead in the first half of the contest, before Jack Harrison doubled the lead shortly after the break to secure the three points.
Despite not being on the scoresheet, it was Leeds youngster Jack Clarke who caught the most attention both during the match, and on social media after it.
The attacking talent set up the first goal for Roofe and then put in a thoroughly impressive performance for the Whites in what could be a pivotal victory in their season.
Leeds supporters have seen Clarke’s credentials a fair bit in recent times and they were on display once again on Friday evening. Their followers were quick to comment on his outing on Twitter after the final whistle.
Here are some of their messages:
I look at Jack Clarke and you know EPL scouts are watching him. I’m worried that Dortmund might want to replace Pulisic and Bayern have needs of their own…. Sancho was plucked from Man City youth and Leeds are playing higher level than that #LUFC

Hands up, Forshaw superb tonight and his best game in a Leeds shirt but Clarke and Alioski the pick of the bunch for me. Massive win and a massive statement just when we need something to pick us up ahead of this season defining run. You bloody whites #lufc 😍🤫👀

Watching the game back. Clarke brilliant. Need him on the ball more in the last third. Jansson outstanding again. Alioski different player at left back. Gets more space. Forshaw MOM for me. Quality in attack and defence. Superb all round performance by all. #lufc

Adam Forshaw can feel hard done by not getting Man Of Match tonight, but Clarke's contribution was more aesthetically pleasing and made the goals. #LUFC

Jack Clarke was outstanding for #LUFC tonight. Deserves plenty of credit – especially for the assist for Leeds’ first goal.
Similarly, Roofe’s fantastic run shouldn’t go unnoticed. A clever piece of movement which I doubt he’d have made 12 months ago.
