Opinion: Tottenham should pay Glasgow Rangers’ asking price for top-class wideman

Italian newspaper Gazette Dello Sport are claiming that ex-Glasgow Rangers star Gennaro Gattuso is looking to raid the Ibrox club for Borna Barisic.

The manager is reputed to be willing to bid the Gers’ asking price to take the Croatian international left-back from Glasgow to Napoli.

Barisic has been an enormous success this season for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side, after taking a year to show his full potential.

Croatia’s best left-back has appeared in 38 games this season and has been absolutely outstanding.

The Rangers star has an impressive 14 assists and two goals to his credit this term. He is sure to add to these figures if the the SPFL can be completed by June 30.

Tottenham Hotspur, under the guidance of Jose Mourinho, are also showing  interest in landing the Gers defender, 90Min reported earlier this month.

Rangers reported £22 million price is affordable for any major English Premier club to pay for a top-class player, especially a full-back with his attacking skills.

Any time that Barisic has been injured, Andy Halliday and Jon Flanagan have deputised for the Croatian, but the standard of play dipped dramatically.

His magnificent form continued during the last 16 Europa League run and when making his Croatia international appearances.

Barisic recently signed a long and improved Rangers contract and stated that he was very happy to remain at Ibrox.

But, when clubs of the standard of Tottenham, Napoli and others come in, you must consider your options and the wages they will pay for your services.

If any quality team is willing to pay Rangers £20 million or more, then he will definitely be sold.
