Lyon director of football Juninho has told the club’s official website that the French outfit want to keep hold of former Manchester United forward and reported Tottenham Hotspur target Memphis Depay.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham are interested in signing Depay from Lyon in the January transfer window and are planning to make a £50 million bid.
Juninho has said that the Frenchman club are planning to hand the 25-year-old Netherlands international a contract extension, and that his former club United have first refusal on him.
Juninho told Lyon’s official website: “Manchester United has the priority if several clubs line up to buy him. But we have not received any offers so far. He is really happy right now in Lyon.
“Rudi (Garcia) will soon make his decision. He is a technical leader. We will discuss an extension of contract by the end of the year.”
Depay has made nine starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 for Lyon so far this season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
During the 2018-19 campaign, the Dutchman made 29 starts and seven substitute appearances in the league for Lyon, scoring 10 goals and providing 10 assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
Lyon are 14th in the League 1 table at the moment with 16 points from 13 matches.
