‘Obvious choice’ – Danny Mills names PL attacker Leeds United should sign

Danny Mills has suggested that Leeds United could be set to make a move for Norwich City striker Teemu Pukki.

The Whites are on the verge of promotion to the Premier League and the Yorkshire club may well be looking for potential reinforcements soon.

Leeds have lacked a potent centre forward this season, with Patrick Bamford proving hot and cold.

Former Elland Road enforcer Mills has made a suggestion to add more firepower to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

“Pukki would be the obvious choice,” former Leeds man Mills said, according to Football Insider.

“It is where does he go and what sort of fee would he command. Does he want to leave Norwich? He is the obvious one.

“He is a goalscorer and he has proven he can do it. A good position and the way that Leeds play…

“But Bielsa is a funny one and a canny one at times. He could bring in somebody completely left-field. He may well use his contacts in South-America or Spain to bring in somebody.

“I think it would be obvious that they would have to bring somebody of quality in the centre-forward position if they get promoted.”

Even though the Canaries look likely to be relegated from the Premier League this season, the 29-year-old has been the one bright spark in their side.

Pukki has so far managed 11 goals and three assists in the top-flight from 28 games this season.

The Finland international is clearly a player who is worthy of playing in the Premier League and it will be a no-brainer for him to leave Norwich if they are relegated this season.

The Canaries will stand to get a decent sum of money in his sale as he signed a new contract with them last summer.

Leeds are on top of the Championship standings and look likely to win promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.

If Bielsa’s side do manage to get top-flight status ahead of next season, ensuring survival will be the main mandate.

They will need to add in a few players to their squad who have Premier League experience. Pukki would be a perfect option for the club if they are promoted.

Signing a new striker should be a matter of priority for the Whites ahead of next season.
