Newcastle United are interested in signing Scott Dann from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun (print edition, Wednesday, page 52, June 5, 2019).
It has been reported that Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez wants to bring Dann to St. James’ Park this summer.
The report has also claimed that the Magpies will have to pay a transfer fee of £6 million in order to secure the services of the 32-year-old central defender.
Good signing for Newcastle United?
Dann is a very good central defender who knows the Premier League inside out, and at 32, the Englishman still has a fair few years left in him.
The former Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers defender has been on the books of Palace since 2014, and the veteran – who earns £60,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – could think that he could do with a change of scenario in his professional career.
According to WhoScored, Dann made seven starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Palace this season, providing one assist in the process.
