Newcastle United face off against Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday, with the Tyneside outfit without a number of players, according to BBC Sport.
After losing their last league game 2-1 against Chelsea, the Magpies fell into the relegation zone.
Newcastle will be looking to move out of the bottom three by winning against struggling Cardiff, but a defeat could set off alarm bells at St James’ Park.
The Bluebirds have not fared much better as compared to their counterparts and are just one point adrift of the relegation zone in 17th position.
Newcastle are expected to make a late decision on the fitness of Ciaran Clark and Jamaal Lascelles after the defensive duo were substituted during their 4-2 FA Cup victory against Blackburn Rovers last Tuesday.
While Fabian Schar and Isaac Hayden also did sustain knocks against the Championship side, they are both expected to be fully fit to compete.
Meanwhile the likes of Kenedy, Mo Diame, Paul Dummett and Jonjo Shelvey are unlikely to play for Newcastle.
The Magpies have struggled to churn out positive results at St James Park this season. They have already lost eight games at their own home ground this term, which will be a disappointment to Benitez.
This is something which Cardiff will aim to exploit.
While Cardiff are relegation contenders for this season, they have impressed during recent games as they have conceded goals in just one of their past four league games.
The last time that the two sides met was back in August and it ended in a 0-0 draw. It also ended Newcastle’s ten-match winning streak against Cardiff in league games.
