Newcastle United play against Leicester City in a Carabao Cup second round clash at St James Park on Wednesday, with the home fans hoping for a domestic cup run this season.
The Magpies will fancy their chances of winning the game after having recorded a shock victory against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Leicester will also be fired up after they secured their first victory of the season by defeating Sheffield United during the weekend.
Both sides are expected to make changes to their sides and rest some key players whom they will hope to be 100 per cent fit against of the weekend’s Premier League games.
Newcastle will be able to call upon the services of Jamie Sterry, Achraf Lazaar, Jack Colback, Henri Saivet and Rolando Aarons, according to a report published by The Chronicle.
The mentioned players were not included in the club’s Premier League squad but are eligible to play in this competition. The report however added that they are unlikely to feature.
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce will have to make do without the services of Florian Lejeune, Allan Saint-Maximin, Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll due to injury.
The likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar, Christian Atsu, Miguel Almiron and Joelinton are doubtful for the game due to minor injuries, added the report.
Karl Darlow will be expected to start in goal for Newcastle ahead of Martin Dubravka while Matthew Longstaff could also be set to start the game.
The Magpies will be without many of their most-important players but the youngsters who play should look to try and convince Bruce that they should be given game time in the Premier League.
