Newcastle United are interested in bringing Inter Milan defender Jeison Murillo to St. James’ Park this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Colombia international had started as a first-teamer when he joined in 2015 from Spanish side Granada CF, however he has seen his game time diminish in recent months.
Rafa Benitez is keen to strengthen his squad for the upcoming Premier League campaign, and Murillo is rumoured to be near the top of his list for summer recruits.
The Italian media outlet’s sources believe Inter Milan could be willing to part with the 24-year-old, as they look to rebuild themselves after a disappointing Serie A season, and the defender could be one of the first out of the San Siro.
It is thought the Nerazzurri would accept an offer in the region of between £10 million and £13 million, which is widely considered a good price for the South American, considering he still has a number of years left on his current deal.
Newcastle are not the only club reportedly interested in the Colombian, with the likes of Monaco, Valencia and Borussia Dortmund also linked.
Benitez will have a challenge in luring the player to the North East of England, with European cup football being offered by other potential suitors, however the lure of the Premier League may work in the Magpies favour.
