Newcastle United fans have been reacting on Twitter to an interview that Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose gave to The Sun in the build up to the meeting between the sides on Sunday.
The full-back appeared to criticise his club’s transfer policy and has since issued an apology via his representatives at the Base Soccer Agency.

Supporters of Newcastle have been responding to the developments on Twitter, with many believing that the England international’s comments could give them the edge at the weekend.
It is certainly not the ideal preparation for Spurs ahead of the new season, although there has been some alarm at the lack of activity in the transfer market in recent months.
Tottenham allowed Kyle Walker to leave for Manchester City for a fee which could rise to £50 million, whilst Nabil Bentaleb, Clinton N’Jie and Federico Fazio have also departed on permanent deals.
Midfielder Josh Onomah has joined Championship side Aston Villa on loan, leaving the squad looking lighter than it did during the team’s successful 2016-17 campaign.
The Lilywhites sealed a second-placed Premier League finish last term but there is concern that they will be unable to improve on that should they fail to invest in their playing staff.
As for Newcastle, they have their own transfer problems with boss Rafa Benitez said to be irritated at a lack of funds at St James’ Park, although he stressed his commitment to the club in his pre-match press conference on Friday, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Spaniard led the Tynesiders to promotion from the second tier last season and has managed to bring in five new arrivals this summer on a limited budget.
Newcastle host Tottenham in Sunday’s early kick-off as both sides look to make a fast start to the new campaign.
