Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are interested in signing West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Hammers recently announced the season-long loan of Manchester City and England stopper Joe Hart, which is set to squeeze the Spaniard down the pecking order at the London Stadium.
West Ham already have Darren Randolph around their squad too and there is unlikely to be enough game time to keep all three men happy, so it could be that one moves on.
Adrian has been informed that in order to be considered for the Spain squad for the World Cup next summer he would need to be playing first-team football so he could be looking to exit the Hammers if he does not see any action.
Newcastle have been looking to strengthen their squad throughout the summer and a new goalkeeper has been on the shopping list for Rafael Benitez.
Doubts remain over Karl Darlow’s future at St James’ Park, with last season’s number one being linked with a move to Middlesbrough as the Magpies boss prepares for life back in the Premier League.
Palace have recently freed up a spot in their ranks for a stopper after Steve Mandanda was allowed to return to Marseille last week.
Frank de Boer is expected to sign a new goalkeeper before the start of the Premier League season and the Selhurst Park side have also been linked with Barcelona’s Jasper Cillessen.
Both sides are monitoring the situation with a view to launching a bid should Adrian decide he needs to leave in a bid to find regular football.
If he joins Newcastle he would surely be Benitez’s first-choice, with Rob Elliot expected to be his deputy.
A move to Palace would see the West Ham man having to compete with Wayne Hennessey for the number one spot.
Wherever Adrian plays his football this season he will be desperate to impress in order to be a part of the Spanish squad that competes in Russia next summer and the club he represents is sure to benefit from that.
