Valencia has been one of United’s most-consistent performers this season and has made the right-back berth his own ahead of Matteo Darmian under Mourinho.
The former Wigan Athletic wideman is out of contract at the end of the current season and concerns among the Red Devils fans were being raised over whether the veteran’s stay at Old Trafford would be extended.
However, Mourinho has confirmed that there is the option for an extra year in Valencia’s current deal that the Premier League club intend to activate as a reward for the star’s excellent showings in 2016-17.
“Big clubs like Manchester United want to keep their best player and the best players at the biggest clubs want to stay for the rest of their career,” The Mirror quote the United boss as stating.
Valencia is in line to start in the Red Devils defence against West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
