Morelos states Rangers manager Gerrard’s presence could earn him Premier League move

Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has told Colombia AS that he thinks that Liverpool are following him.

Morelos believes that given Steven Gerrard’s connection with Liverpool, people from the Premier League club will be following him.

Gerrard, who was appointed the Rangers manager in the summer of 2018, is a Liverpool legend, and has won the FA Cup twice and the Champions League once with the Reds.

Morelos has proven himself as a lethal marksman in the Scottish top flight and the South American clearly thinks he is destined for bigger things, if his latest comments are anything to go by.

“I think they are aware, it’s easy to imagine with the coach we have, who played all the time in Liverpool,” Morelos told AS Colombia.

“I imagine he must have friends, managers who come to watch the games and are looking.”

Stats

According to WhoScored, Morelos has started 12 league games this season and made eight substitute appearances for Rangers, scoring 12 goals in the process.

The 23-year-old striker has also scored eight goals in eight Europa League games (including qualifiers) for the Gers and netted twice in three Scottish League Cup ties, according to WhoScored.

Future Liverpool move?

Morelos is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and it appears that it is only a matter of time before the 23-year-old gets offered a contract from a club in the Premier League.

However, given the strength of the Liverpool attacking unit, it is hard to imagine a situation where an Anfield move would beckon for the South American.

Morelos has had issues around his discipline since arriving at Rangers and this may well put off potential suitors.

However, the Ibrox fans adore the Colombia international for his goalscoring exploits, which they hope will lead the Glasgow club to silverware this term.
