Leeds United manager Garry Monk has revealed that key defender Charlie Taylor missed the dominant Boxing Day win over Preston North End with an Achilles injury.
The progressive left-back limped out of the 1-0 win over Brentford recently and has been pushing himself to get back to fitness in training over the last week.
Monk said Taylor was missing with a sore Achilles. “We’ve got two games in a short period and you have to manage the team right.”

However, Taylor was conspicuous by his absence at Deepdale, but the Whites performed admirably without their key star.
As can be seen above, the wideman was rested for the game with Preston, perhaps with Thursday’s mouth-watering clash with Aston Villa in mind.
Taylor is out of contract at Elland Road at the end of the season and the Leeds faithful are desperate for the star to reject Premier League advances and commit to the Yorkshire club.
However, the ideal scenario would surely be the Whites getting promoted from the Championship and Taylor signing a new deal with the team as a result.
