Middlesbrough play against Blackburn Rovers in a Championship clash on Sunday afternoon, with Tony Pulis’ men keen to shore up a potential playoff finish with three points.
Sixth-place Boro will be looking to defeat their 14th-place opponents away from home as they look to strengthen their push for a place in the promotion playoffs this season.
The game may however not prove to be very easy for promotion-chasing Middlesbrough.
Blackburn’s recent record against Boro is good as they have lost just two out of their past 17 league games against them.
Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough side will have to make do without the services of defenders Aden Flint and Daniel Ayala for the game, as reported by BBC Sport.
Ayala received his marching orders during the recent defeat against Sheffield United and as such has to serve a one-game suspension.
Middlesbrough talisman Flint was injured during the same game and had to be substituted.
The loss of the defenders is a blow to Pulis’ Boro side and it could have a negative effect on them, especially as they have been struggling for consistency.
Meanwhile, for Blackburn, Bradley Dack and Danny Graham are set to return to the starting XI after not starting during their game earlier on during the week against Reading, the report adds.
The duo have been two of Rovers’ best players this season. Dack has so far managed 11 goals in the Championship this season while Graham has hit 14.
There is no clear favourite for this game. However, considering that Rovers have home ground advantage and also considering Boro’s lack of options in defence at the moment, Tony Mowbray’s side can aim for a win.
