Championship side Middlesbrough announced the signing of Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic for the remainder of the season on Thursday morning, and their fans were quick to react to the news on social media.
The tough, defiant central star was a hit on Teesside last term when spending his first spell at the Riverside Stadium, and he is back for more as he bids to complete the job of getting Boro back into the Premier League.
Their opening attempt at that ended when they were beaten by Aston Villa in the semi-final of the play-offs over two legs, and that is only likely to have fuelled the fire of both the Middlesbrough squad, and Besic now that he has re-signed.
The midfielder was way down the pecking order under Marco Silva at Goodison Park, so the season-long loan made sense for all parties.
The 25-year-old arrived at the Riverside in January and went on to make 17 appearances on Teesside last term. His arrival saw about an upturn in form which led Boro into the play-offs where they were subsequently beaten.
As well as that experience, Besic also brings 56 matches for Everton with him and a number of international caps for Bosnia-Herzegovina, all of which could be useful as Pulis’ men look to mastermind the escape back to the top flight.
The former Ferencvaros player is under contract until the summer of 2021 with the Toffees, but it could be that this loan will allow him to showcase his talents enough to leave at the end of the season.
The midfielder has signed in time to go straight into the squad when Middlesbrough play host to West Bromwich Albion on Friday evening.
Their fans enjoyed watching him play last season, and judging by their reactions on social media they can’t wait to see him back in the red shirt once again.

Mo Besic wanted to be at the #Boro and everyone wanted him back so in my book he’s worth double a player whose heart belongs elsewhere.
