Middlesbrough have made a £5 million offer for Millwall midfielder George Saville, according to The Daily Mail.
The Northern Ireland international has been heavily linked with a move away from The Den, with Leeds United touted as potential suitors of the skilful playmaker.
Middlesbrough look to have moved to the front of the queue for Saville, with an improved offer for the star made as the Whites look at other targets.
Boro have money to spend after the sales of a number of players, while Leeds have done their business already this summer – including signing Patrick Bamford from the north east outfit.
Saville’s addition would add competition for places in Tony Pulis’ squad and help the Teesside outfit in their push towards a top-six Championship finish this season.
Leeds meanwhile could certainly use an additional midfielder after the sale of Ronaldo Vieira and an injury to Adam Forshaw, but it looks like Middlesbrough are the most likely to sign the star before the deadline closes at 5pm.
