Liverpool’s main creative weapon Philippe Coutinho is struggling with a slight hamstring injury and could sit out today’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, The Mirror report.

The Brazil international has grown in stature in recent years at Anfield and is one of English football’s most devastating and incisive playmakers.

Coutinho makes the Liverpool team tick and has already scored a superlative free-kick against Arsenal in the opening day 4-3 win.

However, the South American playmaker picked up a slight hamstring strain in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Burnley and has sat out training this week.

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will make a late decision on Coutinho but that the former Inter Milan schemer could be unavailable for the trip to White Hart Lane.

Spurs fans will be buoyed by the news of the Brazilian’s injury concern, while the travelling support will have their fingers crossed that the diminutive attacker can shake off the knock and feature.

  1. He was never “an injury doubt”. It was only ever an attempt to get Tottenham to not consider him in the opposing line-up and then also give some “massive boost” to Liverpool when his fitness to play was announced as expected all along.
