Manchester United will be hoping to pick up their second victory over Chelsea this season when they travel to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men take on the London outfit in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, hoping for a repeat of the last time they met their midweek opponents.

United ran out 4-0 winners at Old Trafford on the opening day of the Premier League season, ruining Frank Lampard’s first game in charge of Chelsea.

It hasn’t been plain sailing since that victory for the Red Devils though, as they have struggled to put together consistent performances in the league.

On Sunday United ended a terrible away run, picking up their first win on the road since February with a 3-1 victory over Norwich City, thanks to goals from Scott McTominay, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Every time these two sides go head-to-head it is considered as a huge clash, no matter what competition it is that they are locking horns in.

Given their injury woes though, United are expecting to field a much-changed line-up for their trip to Stamford Bridge, reflecting by the squad that has travelled to London.

As revealed by the Manchester Evening News, David De Gea was not part of an 18-man squad that made the trip to the capital by train ahead of Wednesday’s cup tie.

Instead, Sergio Romero is set to replace the United number one, having featured in their round three victory over Rochdale, as they defeated the League One side on penalties.

A lengthy injury list for Solksjaer includes Paul Pogba, with Fred likely to retain his place in the starting line-up until the French international makes his expected return to fitness in December.

Alex Tuanzebe, Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, Diogo Dalot, Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are all sidelined too, which opens up an opportunity for the United youngsters.

Brandon Williams and James Garner both made the trip to London and are in line to feature, as United look to continue their Carabao Cup campaign with a victory over Chelsea.
