Manchester United are ready to splash out £30 million on Leicester midfield lynchpin and former youth player Danny Drinkwater, according to The Sun.
Jose Mourinho’s men started the new season well but have stuttered over the last week, with defeat in the derby to City sparking a run of three losses.
Given that world-record signing Paul Pogba is in the Red Devils’ team, the dynamic of the side’s midfield has been heavily critiqued in the press following the poor run of form.

The report suggests that Mourinho sees Drinkwater as an ideal addition to free up the French star in his side’s boiler room.
The 26-year-old is a former United youth player but left Old Trafford in 2012 having never played a Premier League game for the historic club.
Drinkwater was an essential member of the Leicester side that won the Premier League last season and penned a new contract with the Foxes last month.
Claudio Ranieri’s men would obviously been reluctant to lose their midfield talisman, with the star’s recent extension casting doubts on any possible transfer to United.
