Manchester United have been rebuffed in their bid to sign Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Sky Sports.
The Red Devils are famously going through a significant change to their squad this summer as they bid to get back among the elite in the Premier League, and have identified the England under-21 international as someone they want to take to Old Trafford.
United faded in the bid to make the top four last season, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to need to make heavy strengthening to his ranks ahead of the new campaign, with the right-back area being one of his main priorities.
Wan-Bissaka has taken the Premier League by storm since he broke through the ranks at Selhurst Park. He made his debut in February 2018 and became a regular in the Eagles first-team last term.
He featured 39 times for Palace over the course of the campaign, and was a big feature in them finishing in mid-table in the division and has a number of big clubs monitoring him with an eye on signing him in the future.
Manchester United are one of those outfits and they are believed to have tabled a £40 million bid for the 21-year-old, which was rejected by the Eagles, who are after somewhere in the region of £60m for their prized asset.
It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will go back in for the Englishman, but they have to fill a void at right-back with Antonio Valencia having left the club and Diogo Dalot potentially not yet ready to be the regular man in that position.
United are understood to have other targets to fit into the hole in their squad, with Thomas Meunier and Kieran Trippier two men they have been linked with, but based on the size of their initial bid, Wan-Bissaka appears to be the one they prefer.
