Manchester United are ready to make a move for out-of-favour Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window, as per the Mirror.
The Denmark international is in the final year of his contract with the North London-based outfit and spoke last summer of his desire to undertake a new challenge in his career.
Eriksen’s quality is undoubted but new Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho is yet to start the Scandinavian playmaker since replacing Mauricio Pochettino in the maangerial hotseat.
United have had an excellent week, beating both Spurs and Manchester City to propel themselves back into the top-four contention.
The Red Devils are slightly short in the centre of midfield and adding someone like the Tottenham star could well be the missing puzzle piece in terms of creativity.
The report suggests that Eriksen would prefer to leave Spurs for a foreign club and there will be no shortage of interest in him from the continent.
Eriksen has been at Spurs since the summer of 2013 when he moved from Dutch club Ajax.
The reported Man United target has been a firm favourite of the Tottenham fans in that time, but most of the supporters feel Mourinho’s relegation of him to a fringe figure is fair given the player’s uncertain future.
