Manchester United agree deal with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United have finally reached an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Red Devils have agreed a deal worth up to £71 million for the 25-year-old after weeks of negotiations.

It reportedly comprises an initial £65m, to be paid in four instalments, plus £6m in add-ons.

Mbeumo is expected to undergo a medical this weekend ahead of completing his transfer to United.

The Cameroon international has already made it clear he prefers a move to Old Trafford, despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

The Bees had rejected two earlier offers from United, with one worth £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons and another of £45m with £10m in bonuses.

But the Manchester titans returned with an improved offer that has now been accepted by the West London outfit.

Mbeumo has been a key player for Brentford since joining the club in 2019.

But he enjoyed his most productive season in 2024-25, when he scored 20 goals and provided nine assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

United fans will be delighted they have finally agreed a deal for Mbeumo, who is a versatile attacker renowned for his pace, dribbling skills and work rate.

He is now set to become the club’s third signing in the 2025 Premier League summer window following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

United are also expected to be in the market for a new goalkeeper after Andre Onana suffered a hamstring injury that could rule him out for up to six weeks.

They have been linked with Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens, but it remains to be seen whether they make a concrete move for him.
