Second-place Manchester City travel to Vicarage Road to face off against relegation threatened Watford in a Premier League clash on Tuesday evening.
With a top four position secure, Pep Guardiola’s side could give an opportunity to fringe-players.
They will need to prevent their top talent from getting injured and will also need to rest key players in order to prioritize the Champions League.
City have no new injury worries following their FA Cup defeat against Arsenal at the weekend, according to Sky Sports.
The report added that the club’s all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero will continue to remain unavailable.
The Argentine has been out of action since he underwent knee surgery last month.
Substitute goalkeeper Claudio Bravo will also remain unavailable.
The Chile international could not feature in the FA Cup defeat to the Gunners due to a muscular problem, which continues to affect him.
City will be the favourites to win the game.
They have a better side on paper, even if it contains many fringe players.
However, Guardiola’s side has not been at their best lately.
Though their recent results have been okay, they have lacked the fluency and finesse which City are noted for.
A reason for this could be due to the squad rotation.
Regular changes to the team can alter chemistry as some players are not used to playing with each other regularly.
Fringe players may also lack the same level of confidence as players who regularly feature.
City will nevertheless also be favourites as they face a very vulnerable side who recently sacked former manager Nigel Pearson under strange circumstances.
