Ashley Young has told Jose Mourinho that he wants to leave Manchester United this January on loan, with West Ham one of the teams to show an interest, according to The Sun.
The news has put many of the Premier Leagues clubs on notice, with the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Crystal Palace and Watford, the club were it began for the England international, showing reported interest along with the Hammers.
However, the move could be difficult to manufacture as Mourinho has made it known in recent times that he doesn’t want to lose any players this month.
It is thought Young has asked for the loan move due to his lack of starts for the Red Devils. He has only made 10 appearances in the Premier League this campaign, with his last start coming back in November.
West Ham are expected to be one of the busier teams in the transfer window this month, with Slaven Bilic’s men already concluding a deal to sign Jose Fonte from Southampton.
The Irons are said to be in the market for reinforcements and are seemingly set to try to bolster their squad up until the end of January.
It is believed that Mourinho still values the 31-year-old as a crucial member of his squad, utilising the winger mainly in cup games, as well as making cameos from the substitute bench.
Young has found his starting place at United harder to come by with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all being used in the same position.
