Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire are set to offer Manchester United fringe man Bastian Schweinsteiger an escape route, with Goal reporting that the American side want the midfielder.
The German star has won just about every team accolade available in the world game but has found the going tough at Old Trafford since moving to the Premier League last summer.

Jose Mourinho’s arrival ahead of this season has seen Schweinsteiger frozen out at United, with the veteran banished to the fringes of the first-team squad and not featuring this season so far.
The report suggests that Chicago are ready to offer the former Bayern Munich man a total of $16.5 million (£13.3 million) over three years to leave England and move Stateside.
Should this deal happen, the World Cup winner would become one of the MLS’ highest-paid players in history.
Surely a deal to prolong Schweinsteiger’s career is in everyone’s interest, with Mourinho coming in for criticism for his treatment of the star midfielder.
