Manchester United are ready to test the waters with an audacious move to try and tempt key Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic to Old Trafford, according to The Sun.
Jose Mourinho’s first couple of months at the historic Premier League side have been up and down, with a feeling that the Portuguese trainer will look to add to his squad in the next two transfer windows.

Rakitic has been an understated but important member of Luis Enrique’s Barcelona side in recent years, with the silky Croatia international a part of the Catalan outfit’s star midfield.
The former Sevilla man is under contract at Camp Nou until 2019 but the report suggests that United want to take advantage over supposed hesitation over a new deal.
The Red Devils have plenty of attacking players but someone like Rakitic would add real creativity and guile to a team that has struggled to break opponents down at times this season.
