Manchester United are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven full-back Denzel Dumfries this summer, who is available for £25 million, according to The Sun.
The Red Devils have allowed long-term servant Antonio Valencia to leave Old Trafford after his contract expired, with right-back now a position that the English giants will need to bolster.
United have been heavily linked with Crystal Palace youngster Aaron Wan-Bassaka but a sizeable transfer fee would surely be needed to pry the star away from the Selhurst Park outfit.
Dumfries may well be a more-affordable option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils side, with the 23-year-old Dutch defender making a name for himself with solid performances for PSV.
The wideman has also worked his way into the Netherlands international side and looks destined for a bright future in the game.
United have already signed Daniel James from Swansea City, in what looks to be a change of transfer plan by the Manchester club.
Moving for young up-and-coming stars rather than established players appears to be the line of thinking and making an attempt to land Dumfries would certainly continue this train of thought.
The impressive defender shone in the Dutch side that defeated England in the Nations League semi-finals last weekend and will surely be in demand this summer.
However, some United fans may be reluctant for the Manchester club to move for Dumfries after the expensive failed experiment of signing Memphis Depay from the same team, for around the same fee, in 2015.
